Mark 1:6 tells us that John the Baptist did eat locusts and honey. Because he had a Nazarite vow, John could not cut his hair; he could not drink wine or grape juice (no fruit of the vine); and he could not touch anything that was dead. His hair was divided into seven locks (long braids), two on each side and three in the back. Samson also had a Nazarite vow and was under the same restrictions. Unlike John, Samson broke his vow.
